New
Testament
But I say unto you, Love your
enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to
them that hate you, and pray for them which
despitefully use you, and persecute you; That
ye may be the children of your Father which is
in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on
the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on
the just and on the unjust. For if ye love
them which love you, what reward have ye? do
not even the publicans the same? Matthew
5:44-46
Jesus said unto him, Thou
shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy
heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy
mind. This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt
love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two
commandments hang all the law and the
prophets. Matthew 22:37-40
By this shall all men know
that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one
to another. John 13:35
This is my commandment, That
ye love one another, as I have loved you. John
15:12
This is my commandment, That
ye love one another, as I have loved you. John
15:12
And though I have the gift of
prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and
all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so
that I could remove mountains, and have not
charity, I am nothing. 1st Corinthians 13:2
Charity suffereth long, and is
kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth
not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave
itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not
easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth
not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things,
hopeth all things, endureth all things. 1st
Corinthians 13:4-7
And now abideth faith, hope,
charity, these three; but the greatest of
these is charity. 1st Corinthians 13:13
Let all your things be done
with charity. 1st Corinthians 16:14
Be ye therefore followers of
God, as dear children; And walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us, and hath given
himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to
God for a sweetsmelling savour. Ephesians
5:1-2
Now the end of the commandment
is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good
conscience, and of faith unfeigned: 1st
Timothy 1:5
Let brotherly love continue.
Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for
thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Hebrews 13:1-2
Who by him do believe in God,
that raised him up from the dead, and gave him
glory; that your faith and hope might be in
God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in
obeying the truth through the Spirit unto
unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye
love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but
of incorruptible, by the word of God, which
liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Peter 1:21-23
Love not the world, neither
the things that are in the world. If any man
love the world, the love of the Father is not
in him. For all that is in the world, the lust
of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and
the pride of life, is not of the Father, but
is of the world. 1st John 2:15-16
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us;
he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby
know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of
error. Beloved, let us love one another: for
love is of God; and every one that loveth is
born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth
not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this
was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son
into the world, that we might live through
him. Herein is love, not that we loved God,
but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be
the propitiation for our sins. 1st John 4:6-10
And we have known and believed
the love that God hath to us. God is love; and
he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and
God in him. Herein is our love made perfect,
that we may have boldness in the day of
judgment: because as he is, so are we in this
world. There is no fear in love; but perfect
love casteth out fear: because fear hath
torment. He that feareth is not made perfect
in love. 1st John 4:16-18
